pigeonman 8
my jrt x whippet bitch mated with a whippet, my bitch is a fairly small size, not much bigger than a large jrt and the whippet ( a friends dog) is an average size, has anyone had any experience with crossing a smaller bitch with a larger dog? has anyone had any problems doing so??? steveS.Yorks 161
Shouldnt be any problems at all mate, whippet pups and terrier pups are pretty similar in size and your bitch is half whippet anyway. Should make useful dogs, seen some good whippet x terriers. Quote Link to post

littlefish 588
She looks very racy. The way you described her I was expecting her to be small and stocky. I reckon you have some pocket rockets on the way Quote Link to post

I think it's the way to go round here, lamping's almost gone to f**k with 90% of the rabbits lamp shy, & ferreting's not to hot either. Thick cover all year round and no rabbits to ground unless breeding. Quote Link to post

They do tend to yap a bit but the 3 ive seen werent that bad at all,i know blokes that use straight terriers for bushing you can hear them half a mile away? each to their own. Quote Link to post
pigeonman 8
i rescued the bitch about a year ago, at first she was going mad to get at the ferrets but once shed been out a few times she quitened down, plus if have one from a pup they woulda been round the ferrets long enough until the dog can be worked anyway. shes pretty quick and has kept up with a few full whippets on harder ground, shes got the added bonus of bein able to get into parts of the bush where the larger dogs cant, shes gone to ground a few times when chasin but i try not to let her because shes pretty much part of the family now lol dont want her gettin stuck or becoming charlies lunch!
