Bug in my machine

Recommended Posts

As a member of the, ahem, older generation, I have difficulties coping with computer technology. A little help from a younger member of this site might be helpful. Thing is, I have a bug in my computer. Actually, it is in my monitor. Every so often, as I am trying to read my screen, this bug crawls out and scuttles across the screen. It may not even be a bug. It seems to have too many legs, and I think it may be a spider. It's about 2mm long, has 8 legs, and runs very fast. I have tried spraying the screen, with no result apart from making it difficult to read. The only time I tried spraying into the back of the monitor with DDT there was a bloody loud bang and the whole damn plot went up in smoke. Should I take further steps to kill it, or would I be better advised to let the little fughpig starve to death? I only ask because I'd like to know....

I have two bugs under my monitor, both about 1-2mm (but I can't see any legs) and I'm afraid this is just what happens to older monitors, the second time I got one I tried to kill it by pressing the screen whilst it was right at the edge of the screen ('cause the last one died near the centre and so is very annoying) and I managed to kill it. But you might get lucky and have it starve to death off screen, but that's what I let the first do and it was crawling around for about 2 weeks before finally dieing :wallbash:

I had a pretty decent TFT made by sharpe, anyway i left it on one night in summer with the window open, i know what a moron.

About 15 little bugs had managed to get in, i sent it back to sharpe and the replaced it, may be worth a letter/phonecall to the manufacturer as they should have tech to prevent this and they know it!

Good luck!

Next time you see it you have to headbutt the computer screen as hard as you can thumbs.gif

Tried that. Missed the bug but it made me head hurt. If there are any bug-hugging antis reading this, could you make a suggestion about culling bugs? Is this morally acceptable? Or should we let them lead their own lives until the entire planet is taken over by bugs? They do have a serious advantage over us. With at least 6 legs apiece it takes a lot more beer for them to get legless.

Ric
