A walk to show solidarity

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most of you know about the march that was being discussed a few months ago. Right there has been some development in the shadows about it. The title it is no longer a MARCH to overturn a ban, as we all know this will just turn public opinion against us. We need to make it palatable for the general population. So it is proposed that we start somewhere small to test the water for a WALK FOR THE SOLIDARITY OF FIELDSPORTS AND RURAL PURSUITS. The aim is to drum up public support and show the ban is nothing but an ineffective piece of gov legislation That has harmed a largely law abiding community

The reason for the change of angle is we need to show a non militant front for all country pursuits to the public. As any militancy or strong arm approach is only going to be detrimental to us in the view of the public.

I'm in the process of organizing publicity in certain IPC publications they have contacted me but as yet it is not finalized but as soon as this is I will let you know it shouldn't be too long hopefully.

The aims

To show that the countryside would be totally imbalanced species wise without the hard work and pest control of Terrier men, lurchermen, shooters, falconers, ferreters, un & mounted packs.

That the rural economy is reliant in a huge way on these men and women pursuing their chosen fields. Keepers, beaters, pickers, hotelier's local rural businesses all rely in some way on the influx of people wishing to spend their money

that these rural economies are all linked to rural pest control. The above people would find it very difficult to have a day's beating or a career keepering without the pest control provided by the men and women willing to carry on traditional pest control.

To dispel the myth that dog work is connected to Blood sports

The main aim is not to overturn the ban but to gain support and have a good day out

The proposal

If you are interested put your name on here, we will be meeting in the coming months probably end of April beginning of May. The venue is going to be somewhere in central England so that it is the minimum distance for everyone. This will be to test the water as to numbers and gain a bit of publicity. Anybody wishing to carry banners and placards for ban the ban or repeal the ban or anything similar game on as this is the undercurrent of the WALK just not the official title.
