cocker or lab

hi people i am new 2 gun dogs but do alot of beating and eventually want to become a keeper and would like a gun dog (lab or cocker )i would like somthing under 5 month old and not silly money as i am only a young lad (16)i have a terrier and lurcher of my own so it will not be my first dog will live out side i live in lincoln shire help much appreciated cheers L.H

I would say that it depends how much experience you have with regards to training dogs or if you can come by useful advice easily.

 

Cockers are VERY easily ruined if not trained properly! Where as labs are far more straight forward.

 

It is two totally different dogs in my opinion and it is most definatly two totally different ways of training!

 

Which one do you really want?? They are both amazing dogs in their own right!! Be nice to have both!! :thumbs:

 

I have had both breeds and I loved them both for different reasons! The cocker because he was just forever happy, forever willing and always kept me on my toes!

The lab because he was just a pleasure to be with, was very polite, very calm and very hard working.

 

I wish you all the best with your weapon of choice!!

 

Just a thought. If you know two seperate people who have the breeds, why dont you see if you could join them for a training session??
