Look out today

Had a look out today with john off here and me old fella and the bairn. Been planning it for a week and practicing with the longnet coz there's some canny big sets on the land. Woke up, got ready and off out buzzing. Bloody van wouldn't start AGAIN but soon gave that a push and I was on my way. Got to the permission at about 9am, and the day started well, first set and 4 out 2 in the purse nets and 2 in the longnet. Moved on to a couple of smaller sets, carried on bolting 2 or 3 out of every set. Wasn't too bad a day, only had 3 digs but guess who drew the short straw every time Took the gun with me this time for the bairn to have a go, he had half a dozen shots at rabbits but couldn't hit a barn door bless im, never mind practice makes perfect. To finish the day off we went to a set with a few hundred holes, set the long net up and in went 3 ferrets. The ground was thundering and ferrets managed to bolt 8. All of which ran in the opposite direction to the longnet Called it a day then and headed back to the van. Guess what, Bloody van wouldn't start again. Trying to bump start a tranny van on a narrow, boggy dirt track is not much fun. Got it started and about 35 miles from home and noticed running out of juice, pulled into the services to get some and realised that I'd left the fuel cap key at home so had to break petrol cap off to get deisel in. Never mind, all in all not a bad day 25 fat, healthy rabbits and a kid thats going to sleep all night.

Aye, what they miss out on in speed they make up for in stamina. Only problem being she grunts like a pig when she knows theres rabbits in, it;s like being in a sty and today she never shut up lol.

ya getting a dab hand with that spade trev thought you might have dug that last one of mine out :whistling: it was a canny day never mind the bairn sleepin so will a, all rabbits cleaned skinned and bagged for freezer.

one trip we will get all the way around that lake ya right about the bunnys plenty meat and fat on them. are you planning the next trip yet will have to make some room in freezer will give you a bell in the middle of the week.

Glad you enjoyed it mate coz i know i did. Sat having a pint at the minute but it won't be long till i'm in my pit.
