stroller 341
Last weekend me and my grown up son took his saluki x grey up to some permission in Scotland we had no idea what it would be like but we booked a B&B ans set off in the van. My lad is 19 now and we dont get to spend a lot of time together so this was a bit of male bonding time. we reached the spot and the landowner showed us round. it wasnt massive but therer was ample sign of rabbits and some really good sets. The first set we tried a corner set with a dumped wood pile, sent out three rabbits one out of an unseen bolt hole , one threw a net and as my son wqas picking the net up a rabbit bolted and jumped into his arms!! i swear to god it was the funniest thing ive ever seen. he caught it and the first rabbit was accounted for. we then spent a brilliant day in very warm weather catching 1 or 2 rabbits out of each set we tried, a lot of sets were in deciduous woodland so the big dog couldnt get started but he is very good at marking sets so he saved us a lot of time, we probably missed more rabbits than we caught as the leaf litter on the ground covered bolt holes. these sets were really old and massive The first day accounted for 11 rabbits not a huge total but we had to work hard for them and we had a right laugh. We arranged to come back the next day to do some new ground but the farmer at our B&B that night gave us permission to ferret his six acre wood, we got a couple out before dinner but they just werent bolting it had been a -6 that night and the leaf litter crackled like gunfire over the sets encouraging the rabbits to run around underground. we called it a day and started the 3 hour drive home with smiles on faces and me and the lad better friends than we have been for awhile. lawrence 657
i know what you mean about bonding with the son, always great to get my wee lad out with me. on the subject of Scottish rabbits , i bought a few purse nets on ebay from a Scottish punter and we nearly lost a few full grown rabbits the first time we used them, as the mesh was too big, when i mentioned this to him, the chancer cliamed there was nothing wrong with the nets and it was just that scottish bunnies were bigger Quote Link to post
whin 463
if your losing rabbits out mesh your to slow you should be at them quick not letting them break dance to freedom pm me and send me one of these nets and ill tell you if they are [bANNED TEXT] or wrong who made them is more to the point mate Quote Link to post
