good pic pal, i havnt dug one in water but i do know of a 9" drain thats a good 150 mtr long thats always got water running through it and weve had afew bolts from it over the years, we can only guess that theres a ledge in the drain but we havnt ever found a man hole or even dug it as it only runs through a paddock , atb pal

Dont underestimate how focused a terrier can be and think it wont follow or will let go if underwater some wont.

When my old [long dead] warrior was around 18 months old i was walking him along a canal with my mate and his dogs,we came across a dead fox on the bank, the terrier pups found it and ragged it a bit,i thought it would be a good idea to weight the dead fox down and throw it in the canal because we walked there regularly and didnt want the dogs ragging on a rotting fox,i wired some concrete to it and threw it in the canal,we put the pups on the lead and walked off, when we were a few hundred yds away i let mine off thinking he wouldnt go back but he did like a rocket, when i got to him he was swimming in the canal just above the dead fox,my mate was laughing because he couldnt find it,all of a sudden the dog "up ended" and he got hold of the fox in the fairly shallow water,he came up once and went straight back down and wouldnt let go,i waded in and grabbed the now nearly unconciouse terrier, that taught me how easy an accident could happen especially to ground.

Thought that was worth a mention.

i have dug to a fox who was up to his belly in water but not that deep :icon_eek:

a mate lost a teckel in a drain(30cm. one end dry the other was 2/3 water). the fox was dead on being washed out shortly followed by the dog. gutted.

i always check both ends of a drain before entering the dog.

my guess would be that both dog and fox suffered hypothermia and drowned.

a good dig all the same bud :toast:
