adamb20 22
saw some very good rabbit dogs catching 57 and 68 on good ground, but i dont rate adog by rabbits in the bag unless hard rabbits on winter wheat, thta can dance and hares on hard ground and roe when it was all legal not the amount its the land they run and how the perforrm ,been all over the british iles fen like land localy were a dog has to be good to catch ,as there no easy ones day time or nite time now i would love to see the llegends try on that ground , had the bruce up and had single handed up on thta type of ground ,its testing for most dogs and any moon can be difficult big slips in and out lamp thye go and have to catch out of lamp now thats a dog and the best dogs ive saw were best coursing dog bred to best collie type or grew type or the odd saluk type nohedges fences shitty pure ru nning ability and the man behind the wheel or on foot les says the better i would have thought that big open ground would be easier to catch things than fenced,i know my dog catches better if theres plenty of space Quote Link to post
whin 463
no cause its not flat there woods and the ground not always suiting the dog and well on some big land not that much at times so you need to work at it and not educate the animal you are after, its simliar to daylite alot of times and they need running wind the dogs , as after 30 yrs of getting chased etc they ar good theynno there runs and were they are going this is hunting country were they no whats what ,but great sport and if your clever you help the dog to get the best of it Quote Link to post

BBHLFC 0
a guy called stat had 2 fantastic lamping dogs called fly and cass...these are no longer with us but in there day they caught large numbers of rabbits and hares and were lamped without slip leads... this is were we are at the lamping dog ....what we talking foxes from the motor ...bambi...hares others .....got to go with a lad from near cullingworth .....and his dogs ....general +custard proven dogs on all and there breeds are doing the same Quote Link to post
BBHLFC 0
Dont forget most of these legends were only known about due to their owners writeing and advertiseing the fact in magazines how meny dogs must have been about were their owners chose to keep it to themselves how good their dogs were like some still do today. this is so true .....many of us/them dont brag about what there dogs do they just go out and do it there is quite a lot of dogs ive seen do the do from cars, vans, ect on foot the list is long coneys charlies bambies long ears, and pig but lots will not come on and tell and dont like to be talked about due to the fact too many eyes and ears ...in the owners eyes he as the best or he would not feed it Quote Link to post
