mooster 1
Just thought I would share this to add to the list examples of what can make your ferret ill. I bought a young albino hob this year to keep my jill company after her mother died. Just before christmas,he shocked me several times with a really loud cough...it sounded just like a duck quacking. He had no visible symptoms but soon became more and more listless and stopped eating and drinking. I did the usual research on here and wondered if it might be a hairball but decided to take no chances as he was looking very ill and took him to the vet (££££££££££££££!) She reckoned hair balls were unusual and suspected an infection prescribing antibiotics. I still had real problems getting water into him and he looked like he only had a day or two left staggering around and really skinny,I considered ending his mysery.Trouble was, his eyes still looked bright and he had no other obvious symptoms,he never coughed again making me wonder if it was some sort of obstruction working through his system, so I kept giving him the ferret paste I had read about on here. Last week I found a black poop in the corner of the hutch and on closer examination found it contained a ball of wood shavings. And guess who gobbled up a plate of raw rabbit the next day! He's now up and about and recovering, even jumpimg out of bed like he used to when he hears me coming. Now I always feed them away from the floor of the hutch. Thanks to contrinutions on this site I was able to save him...Thanks guys ,from me ....and Buster as well- Now for some rabbit action!
