UK boar dogs aren't all too common I should imagine, pics of it would be a prized possession surely not? Ive heard from reliable sources, that you don't need anything special for boar here or abroad...the dogman just needs to have abit of something about them, get stuck in and finish the job....I'm told if it's 2 people then it's easier,1 grabs the back legs while your dog has a cheek/ear hold, and the other person delivers the coup de grace I'm sure one of the THL massive will say that's bollocks and you need 15 half X's or dogos to get the job done...no way a man and 1 dog could do it 1 1 Quote Link to post

Then, about 30 years ago, I got my first chance to do some pig hunting in NZ. I asked the lad I was going with about "pig sticking", he replied " f**k that for a lark ! 30-06 or 303 behind the lug ! As for the dogs he used, they were nothing special as far as breeding goes. They were a Staffy, a blue Merle Collie and a pair of Rhodesian Ridgeback x Labrador. Cheers. 3 Quote Link to post

If you have good holding dogs using a knife is pretty safe. You can't flip some big pigs so just have to get along side and knife them. I'd rather go for a quiet stroll these days rabbiting, I've always liked hunting rabbits and rats better. 1 Quote Link to post

There’s a video on YouTube of some pig dogs on a pig and one getting taken by a big saltie 2 Quote Link to post
