Endgame 68
Just got off the phone to a old fella in ire whos very "clued-up" on the wheatons, and he pretty much said to me what JD said there in his post. With out a shadow of a doubt, he said that there WILL be bull blood if you traced back. THEY WERE DEFO BREEDING BULLBLOOD IN ABOUT 15YRS BACK IN THE REPUBLIC/ AS I SEEN SOME OF THE CROSSES. VIVIDLY REMEMBER A HALF CROSS. WHEATEN COAT, BUT LEGGY WITH THOSE BULLY AMBER PIERCING EYES/ IT LOOKED A VERY CAPABLE ANIMAL. Edited February 8, 2010 by Endgame Quote Link to post
sounder79 80
Griffo like it or not there is a huge chance there will be bull in that dog. It is highly unlikely that you have got Wheaten blood without bull in. why cant the colour come from the greyhound? you get brindle greyhounds dont ya? your right about the bull being added to strenghten up the wheatens but that would be way back the line,i would have thought the greyhound is responsible? hedz31 1,308
It dont matter whats in its line, far back or recent or where its coat or head has come from its a fine healthy looking dog hope he does you proud griffo . Quote Link to post
Endgame 68
A GENUINE 1ST CROSS WHEATEN/GREYHOUND IS UNLIKELY 2 THROW A SMOOTH COATED BRINDLE/ BUT AS THE MAN SAYS ITS 3RD GENERATION BRED SO THROWING 2 THE GREY HOUND GENES COULD WELL HAPPEN. REMEMBER THAT SOME BELIEVED THE BRINDLE COLOURATION IN GREYHOUNDS CAME FM EARLIER BREEDING WITH BULLBLOOD 2 PUT MORE FIRE IN 2 THE BREED. Quote Link to post

James Doyle 59
WHEATON crosses tend to be smallish in size but they have a heart of gold Quote Link to post
griffo 28
i'm not denying there is bull blood in him a few 3 or 4 generations back and nothing against bull blood but all i was trying to say that the colours are more likely from the greyhound as they make up half of the genetic's in a half x the pick is of tig's father, a first cross wheaton grey dog Quote Link to post
