I have seen a good number of wheaten/greys and they all seem to have fawn coats and practically all rough coated....Just wondering...cheers JD A lot of 1st crosses have the fawn wheaten coat,but 2nd and 3rd generation half crosses seem to throw some smooth coats.A mate of mine recently bred a litter 1st cross dog to 2nd generation half cross and there was only one fawn/wheaten colored dog,the rest were black and brindle. stabba 10,745 Posted February 6, 2010 Report Share Posted February 6, 2010 Shave a rough coated halfx wheaton down and look at the head size.... most firstx,s have heads like buckets but the rough coat tends to hide it..... also 2 rough coats mated together will produce smooth coats. atb stabba Quote Link to post
