tsteve9999 456
I went today to carry out some building work for a shop situated fairly near the town centre today. There are about 5 one hour stay parking bays situated near the shop and a long stay car park about 300 yards away. Other than that it is wall to wall double yellow lines, so I phoned parking services to try and get them to allow me to park in one of the bays for the time it took to do the work, because since the council started getting fees from fines there seems to be a warden along every road every 5 mins or so. I was told by an "official" that I could park there for the time it took to unload tools but no longer, I would have to park on the car park afterwards and pay the fee for a day. Now it's almost impossible to know exactly what I'm going to need, if anyone on here is in the building trade they'll know, and I usually have to go back and forth to the van during the day for different things so to say I was pissed off is an understatement, but as I was pulling into a bay at the car park a stick insect dressed in a wardens uniform came running over to tell me I wasn't allowed on this car park because the feckin van was too big Another round of phone calls resulted in some woman from parking services (who didn't know what a LWB van was ) telling me I could stay in one of the bays for the rest of the day, but from tomorrow I would have to leave the van on a car park that local market traders use, A MILE AND A FECKIN HALF FROM THE SHOP!!!!! I despair of where this country is going to end up, it seems to be getting worse by the day.

skellyb 8
Simple answers, when quoting ensure the shop allows you to park in one of their spaces or include possible fines in your price. I take it when you priced up you looked at the parking situation?
tsteve9999 456
No I didn't, for some strange reason I fondly imagined that there would be someone on the council with common sense. It's only a day and a halfs work and I'm working for a managment company that I've worked for for 20 odd years, so no price has been given they trust me to be fair, but that doesn't mean that the council should be able to rob them blind.
