Lamping has been virtually eradicated in my area chopper has seen to that,if you keep getting arrested they will start confiscating your dogs,as a decent dog takes at least 2 years to rear/train..ect how many are you prepared to lose, everyone involved is given points on their licence whether you are driving or not and the fines are around £700 a pop.

The 4x4 field drivers have pushed the situation no doubt about it,but sites like this with idiots openly saying things they shouldnt have probably added fuel to the fire as well, what do you think the anti's cops think when they see a picture "shot and retreived" and digi's pre-ban,i like to wind them up myself but in the long run we cant win unless a government change the law,and none of them will, everyone who was stupid enough to march did it for nothing, only licenced hunts will be able to "re-start"[LMFAO]

I doubt even coursing greyhounds will be allowed again, depends who does it though,2 lads in a tranny with a couple of Saluki x's will be jumped on,sir "im a toff with loads of money/land"will not be prosecuted.

Just my opinion, ill go and get my crash helmet now.

I think the well bred coursing dog lines will soon be a thing of the past and lost in history

If the current trend continues, often with the assistance of some who do the extra curriculars , I think sadly you may be right,I would guess that in 20 years or so a lad with a running dog will be looked upon with the same sense of censure as a badger baiter/dogfighter.I would like to think that there will allways be a youngster slipping out with his dog trying to catch a bunny but I have my doubts.

I think in some regions we are at that state now,,,,,,,,,, maybe in the near future we will have to walk the lanes and fields with dogs that dont look capapable of killing a hare......Just a thought.. :gunsmilie:

bet theres a few of them about at the minute, especialy on the lamp. i would say i haveone myself.

What, that kills hares, wtf is it???????

The Sport of Kings will never die out. The flame burns too brightly, too deeply, in too many people for it to be extinguished. What is happening however, is the chavs and silly lads are being forced out of the game one way or the other. That can only be of benefit to everyone in the fieldsports community.

I was told of a hare drive the other day, 600+ they shot. Now i have nothing against someone shooting a hare or two, i have shot a couple when i was younger and they were never wasted. But i do think 600+ hares is unmoral, but sadly, legal.

Some five years ago the hand-wringers amongst us were sounding the death knell for the saluki hybrids, and thankfully, they were wrong. There are still good dogs out there and still good lads to run those good dogs... :notworthy: JD :victory:

Very true,...

And the bottom line is,..." As long as there is game to hunt,...someone, somewhere, will be out there hunting it"....

End of story....

The only hunters the ban has seemed to effect very little is the hunters it was originally brought in to stop, the ones who ride horses with red jackets chasing quarry with red jackets. Now IF the conservatives get in and MODIFY the ban which is what they will do not reverse it, who will benefit? yes you guessed it those same hunters who wear red jackets. I wonder if they will march again to help us lurcher folk whistling.gif

Hare coursing wont die out it will just be done by less and less people as years go by but there will always be die hards who continue in one way or another notworthy.gif

The ban was brought in under the guise of animal welfare ,but it was effectively class war, which you seem to be doing your bit to keep alive Joe.

The Ban has actually made little difference to fox hunts ,and they have increased their membership. If you dont think the ban has affected coursing men ,all I can say is you don't do much of it.

Recently two people were in court for attending a coursing meet one is a well known tv personality and a QC, the other is a Knight of the Realm.

You talk divisively Joe, and we know what happens when forces are divided, they get conquered

The "Red Coat" image was what inflamed the lefties to start with .

If the fox hunts were banned ,but all dog work was retained, would you march for them ?

From the tone of your post, I would say NOT A CHANCE.

Think you've got the wrong end of the stick here mate. He said the ban has hardly affected the fox hunts – and he's right, they do seem to be carrying on regardless. And I think he's also right that not many of the hunts would march to support dog men.

I dont't agree with individual lisencing for hunting, lamping, ferreting, etc. I stongly object to having to buy a rod lisence; I have to have a day lisence to fish at the vast majority of places I go, so a rod lisence is basicaly a tax on owning a rod. Hunting and fishing are my sports, so what next; a lisence to play football, go jogging or any other sport or pastime people may engage in ? We need LESS government and stealth taxes in our lives, not MORE. I don't think the Tories will overturn the ban, they will just modify the law to suit organised hunting. The lurcher lads will not gain anything.

Cheers.

My faith in Conservative grew when Cameron said "Burglars leave their humans rights outside your door, and you DO have a right to defend your home against them"

Along with giving another vote on the Hunting Act, seems they are the better of the evils imo.

If hunting foxes comes back in so will hunting anything else Hares etc, its not possible to be allowed to hunt 1 type of animal but not another regardless of class! Unless they are endangered,in which case shooting 600+hares wont do the breed much good.

Cock fighting was banned in the 1800`s along with many other "Blood" sports.

But they still go on. People do what they choose to do, regardless of laws.
