Tyla 3,179
The spent a couple of nights over the weekend camping on a bit of ground thats a bit far for day trips. The plan was to do a bit of duck shooting before the end of the season but that failed due to everything being frozen up and the only ducks that we saw flew over as we all had cups of tea on the go! We did a bit of lamping but full moon frost and no wind meant the rabbits stayed home. The ferreting was better, we did a couple of sets both mornings and had 10 the first day and five the second. Not loads but enough to cover the diesel for the trip! We just used the long nets and Parker as the ground was too hard to gets purse net pegs into. It was a nice trip but could've been warmer -3 the first night and -5 the second, luckily I had the dogs to keep me warm but the other 2 suffered! Heres a few pics Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
I love it, its as much about just being there as the hunting for me. That ground belongs to someone i've known forever and we have always gone camping there sometimes up to a week at a time when I was younger. Its a shame how real life gets in the way as you get older! Its a great place, fishing, rabbits, ducks, hares and right next door to the beach so when we go in the summer my missus can go and sunbathe while i have a mouch with the airrifle. Quote Link to post

Fair play to you mate  Cheers mate, i took my usual hunting mate and his son in law whos just bought an airrifle. They werent quite as well equipped as me and didnt have the extra dog warmth either. They stuck it out though and the lad seemed to enjoy himself, it was a bit of a baptism of fire (or should i say ice) for him as a first hunting trip but he's keen to go again! Nutter!
