Guest wurzil
Hi all, I have a black & tan smooth coated terrier, her father a red lakie, mother a black smooth coated patterdale, having difficulty uploading pics of her due to file size 7 jpeg crap etc but does anyone out there have a smooth coated black & tan? Would appreciate any pics. Also get pissed off with folk saying she is neither lakie or patt cause of being black & tan but you see the rough coated variety all the time and nothing said there???? why do you get pissed off with people saying she is neither? her sire is a lakeland, dam is a patterale,so she is neither.she is just a crossbred terrier, nothing wrong with that yip im with you on that one dev, she is a crossbred terrier simple as that!!! manspade 3
I think if most people are honest, not many stay true to type now. Best to best i think would be fair to say.And that also is governd by individual choice. Some like strong sorts some smaller sorts. And remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The main thing is they work Quote Link to post

CorsoQueen 0
Cheers for the pics guys some cracking dogs there. Agree with most of you here, don't get me wrong i just find smooth coated black & tan, reds etc harder to come by and look almost completely different to rough/broken coated types. I've even been asked if she has stafford in her, which again probably wouldn't have been had she been rough coated. Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Id have to disagree wit ya there FTB.. U dont see lakeland breeder callin them patterdales nor will u hear a patterdale breeder callin them lakelands.. No one really can say 100%without any doubt where or how the patterdale came but there not lakelands.. They dont even have any familiar characteristics.. Now the Fell TYPE is a different story as its only a type of terrier of which lakelands and patterdales can fall into.. Nah mate, you misunderstood me. I wasnt sayiny that is what i think, i was trying to explain what coyotehunter was trying to say as you said you didnt undestand. Cheers FTB Quote Link to post
kk7966burton 0
Mine are 2 totally different looking terriers. One is a Choc smooth coated which I call a Choc smooth coated Patt an get some funny looks. The other is a black fell type which everyone says is a Patt an I just call it a Black fell type terrier. God knows who's right or wrong but they both do a job me. Just Terriers. I wouldn't mind knowing where in the lines the chocolate comes from in him though, any thoughts on that anybody? events co-ordinator 353
Back in the day my old man got a slaithe coated lakeland up from whitehaven to work for the winter they could not find kennel room for it and one of the guys aunties put it up till it started killing cats in her garden so they took it out and on its first day dug a pair with it and although it was smooth coated and black and tan it was just a lakeland Quote Link to post
