Ideation 8,216
Yes matey - get a map / google earth - have a look at the lay out of all the farms etc locally and just go one to another. I been working out from my house for ages now and once you get a few the neighbours are easier - so far i've got permission for all the land around me as far as i could walk in a day or so! atb Jai. The one 8,511
Aye go back in a nice set of clothes with out the dogs and as its the time of year rabbits are doing damage and the farmers arent to busy to spend time talking to you ,you might get some permission . Good luck Quote Link to post
max abell 196
As Ideation said mate you get most of your permissions through word and mouth by doing the neighbouring land etc We are lucky in the sense we have secured hundreds and hundreds of acres of land over the years by this method you just need your first bit to get started dont be put off by knocking on doors they can only say no dont go all done up in cammo gear or the other extreme like a chav just a wax or shooting jacket etc 1st impressions make all the difference dont be put off by only little bits of land or even big country gardens because if you do a good job word gets around and you will be amazed how by useing these small bits of land as refrences how your permissions will spread WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF LUCK and hope you secure yourself some land soon WHERE ABOUTS ARE YOU FROM Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Everyday when i drive home i pass through some Z bends near me that pass through a pretty decent sized bit of woodland which is attached to a few fields. The wood is many times larger than the fields and stuffed with rabbits. I have permission to ferret the land that runs along two sides of the woodland. The wood and fields seem to belong to the people who live in a big house which has an electronic gate and long drive (the house is huge). I've always fancied a go through the woods but have been put off from asking by the look of the house. Anyway - i was driving home from work and had a pretty good day, as i drove past the house i noticed the electronic gate was open -so while luck was up (and i was in my 'smart' clothes) i decided to call into the house. I pulled up outside and knocked on the big door. From round the cornor came a well dressed, posh sounding bloke with a happy looking springer spaniel. I introduced myself, said that i kept ferrets and worked land locally - naming some of the farms etc and told him i was there to ask for permission to ferret on his property. I said that i would be more than happy to drop some of the rabbits by when i had been. I was generally chatty, asked about his dog and complimented the view etc. 'I've not shot any for years the woods over run - you'd be more than welcome whenever you like' ' Quote Link to post
