I been tugged a few times with the dogs, never any hassle. Once they checked the car etc & had the firearms section out & chopper. Between 3 of us , with dogs, knifes a saw & hatchett, they thought we were a crime syndicate doing collections, after a laff & a little respect ,nothin happened , on the way home & done !

They are doing us a favor, keeping it safe , & its there job.

Treat them as you wish to be treated , (gritted teeth, biting the tounge) , but fuk it, all is sweet

Wise words mate!

Less reactionary stuff is required theses days

respect Swampy

A mates lad was talking to his mate outside the local shops where they live and a car with 4 black lads [no offence to any black people intended]pulled up and they walked over to my mates lad and asked if they knew who could sell them some green,no threats or anything to my mates lad, just a bit of friendly banter.

All of a sudden the law turned up and the black lads scattered, one threw something under a car,the cops caught them all bar 1,when they looked under the car the lad had thrown a loaded automatic pistol under it,the lads were arrested and took away, the pistol was bagged for forensics,we know for a fact that the next day the lads were let go with no charges ever being brought against them?

The lad who threw the pistol,no gloves was one of the ones arrested so surely he should have got 5 yrs for the pistol?

Then you hear stories of hunters getting prosecuted for having a pen knife, catty and being continually harassed, just doesnt add up.

The lunatics are running the assylum im afraid :wallbash:

Where abouts in the country are you mate,Im in Yorkshire an its getting a joke with coppers pulling lads round here.

Down in Devon mate, it's the first I've heard of anything like it.

The old bill have pulled us over before when we are in the middle of no where with the lamp and dogs just to check we're not doing houses and seen knives and just told us to crack on and have a good night type thing.

I know lads who have to walk their dogs through industrial estates in the middle of night to get to their permission and often get stopped as they have a bag on their back with a knife in it and get told to crack on.

After some advice from anyone with similar experience please.

I was out on Sunday afternoon with the dogs on public footpaths. I could hear a dog barking from a fairly near farmhouse which is unusual as I come out to this place quite a bit. Shortly after this the police helicopter appears overhead and my thoughts were that maybe there was a robbery of some sort going on. Anyway, I head back towards my van which is parked in the direction of the farmhouse and start to put my dogs back in as I had already been out for an hour or two, when armed response come from behind me jogging/walking along the track (fat c***s were too unfit to jog properly). They ask me if I have been poaching and after a brief argument about wasting time and money and over reacting they search around for any carcusses which they don't find and then search me for weapons. They find my hunting knife which a straight blade in a case with a 4" long blade and then nick me for offensive weapon. I explained in interview that the knife was in the back of the van and I got it out when I was putting the dogs in and then I would have driven home. While I am at the station they take my dogs to be checked out for dangerous dogs act.

Haven't been charged yet but bailed until later this month.

Anyone had any similar and what was the outcome?

Bet you expected a jeremy beagle type prank,

Just read the original post, am i right in thinking you were just walking your dogs and not hunting at all, cos if you weren't hunting or going hunting in the eyes of the law you had no reason to be carrying a knife, so to them you are a person in a public place tooled up with a 4inch fixed blade, and you'll get done for it.

I'm not saying this is right, far from it, but that is how the police will look at it.

In my statement I told them that I will nearly always catch rabbits when I walk the dogs out this particular place, which i true. I keep the knife in the back of the van and carry them back and paunch them back at the van after. I know what you mean mate, saying the wrong word and the F***in jobs worths will do you.

I could have said that I had just found it near my van and picked it up and said " thank f**k you lot are here, LOOK AT WHAT I'VE JUST FOUND!"

You could be on dodgey ground mate, If you haven't got permission on that land, your comments could be taken to mean you were equiped to poach by our own admission. And i don't think poaching is a good enough reason in the eyes of the law to carry a knife, so you may get done for carrying the knife and under the hunting act, a lot will depend on the officer.

Judging by the way they acted on Sunday they won't be screwing the nut for me. Should have just gone "no comment" and got the brief to sort it out. May have shot myself in the foot by just trying to hope for a bit of common sense to the whole thing.

If I do get charged for the offensive weapon it will just underline my belief that you should never under any circumstances talk to the t**ts without a brief!!!

I have never had a problem with having a knife, been stopped a few times which ive always appreciated bearing in mind the arses in transit vans towing caravans around my area are always after a decent 4x4. if you can prove youve got it legit, it shouldnt be a problem. i often carry a hedge knife when ferreting and thats a seriously bladed article in any mans book however its also a tool,,,similar to some of the idiots on this ere forum. With reference to an interview, use a brief,,,,,its free, you get nothing for free these days and i cant think of anything better than having a friendly face in an interview. rule of thumb is if in any doubt, have a brief, dont accept a caution like my mates son did when he was found with a small knife in his pocket after a days shooting. he really regrets it now he wants a firearms ticket. Join BASC or something similar and get some real advice..:icon_eek:
