information needed please

hello im looking for abit of information regarding breeding

im thinking of breeding my ferrets this year but dont want to go into breeding blinded sooo heres a few questions

1. how much do i need to put away for when the ferret kits are born.

2. is there a good book i can read about breeding ferrets

3. my hob i think is coming into season(if thats what you call it for a male) his balls are quite large and on show(i notice this when i was giving my ferrets there daily health check) and was wondering should i sperate them, untill my jill comes into season because i dont want him pestering her

 

 

now about ferreting can you ferret in the rain stupid qestion but it doesnt say in any of the books i got

Hi, There are a few good books on ferrets that cover all aspects of keeping and working ferrets there is one by ian c rickard ferrets and ferreting thats quite good he goes through housing, breeding, ailments and covers just about everything. but before breeding I would seriously look at your options if you dont need to breed then I wouldnt but if you are hell bent on breeding make sure you have homes for the kits and dont plan on making big money out of breeding because you will be disapointed. whilst pregnant the jill will eat more and if you get half a dozen kits then thats half a dozen more mouths to feed and lots of handling and time is essential, as for the money side you need to make sure you have enough put a side for a trip to the vets in case of any problems and for the extra feed if you havnt got a readily available supplie hope this is helpfull.
