JackReid 35
Hi all, My friend who is in Royal Marine training came down for the weekend after getting through week 17 (hell week) and wanted to relax off a bit. He used to have an old school Webley Vulcan fitted with a gas ram but after a few times of a mate or two pulling the trigger when the barrell wasnt upright it screwed the gun completley. So until now he has used an FAC .22 when we went out hunting. However trying to get him back on the air guns went out about all over the place trying to get him a HW97K and nnowhere had it, then went hunting the same places of an Air Arms TX200, again they didnt stock it at that time, so eventually a very good salesman convinced him into buying something there and then and sold him a second hand Webley Raider 10 shot. Both of us prefer springers so it was an interesting path for him to go, I was suprised. Anyhow we went and zero'd up and headed round the farm, and as standard, nothing within an air rifles range we could go for. Its just so quiet, rabbits obviously stil lare within the permission site but just dont come out I suppose apart from a select moment or two a day, probably at 4am in the morning! The pigeons and corvids are so jumpy that they can all fly away even in large 'safe' groups of 50 or so, at first sight at 300+ meters. Very frustrating, the only way to get them is to ambush them and still your hide must be excellent and you could wait 3 hours and not see one, knowing they are just round the corner chilling in another major hotspot. So we went to my mates who owns a serious ammount of land and went out in a landrover, with his younger sister driving (still learning!) with me and my friend on the roof with legs through the sun roof behind the seats to avoid ocming off, with lamps and a mate out the passenger side. This is always very fun speeding aorund the fields sat ontop of a vehicle but most rabbits bolted once we got to about 50meters so didnt get any shots really. Also we called it as it was so cold on the roof that my hands were really beginning to feel like I had frost bite hehe! Its ok when your on foot and your bloods moving, when you sat on a vehicle going 30 its not so warm! And then finally today went out on my own and didnt have a chance on anything, saw one rabbit that I couldnt get a clear head shot on and kept moving further towards it, in a game of 'chicken' with some cows who wanted to charge me down, eventually 20 of them went at me and I lost the game and the rabbit. Took a few fun shots at some wood knots in post and I wasnt hitting them so went back to the targets and dotn know whether somethings going on with my scope or whatever or I was shooting badly but I was all over place. Back at Uni now for a week or two then back to the zero'ing post Frustration! Jack Also: I would like to apologise to a few people as in reflection over a a very stressed period of about a week I have left a handful of comments in various places that are not like me at all, with negative undertones etc. Practically all were not meant the way they came out and I apologise for all of these. I blame a very intense week of assignment deadlines where my stress has been vented within the forum by the look of it and its not a good look! Apologies to those people, you all know who you are! JackReid 35
And an example of the pigeons. All sat in the tree, look how far away I am, they bolted after the second photo was taken when I had barely moved! Quote Link to post

Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Jack. Sounds like you had a lot of fun on the land rover, good training for young Royal aswell Great pictures, look's like some good ground there buddy, should be alive in the spring/summer. Forum's are funny thing's arnt they, it's nice when upset's between member's are settled without all the bickering, upset's are bound to happen from time to time, I think most realise when someone is having a bad day and is posting out of charactor. I think for you to admit a bad day, and apollagise for it, is a credit to you Jack. ATB. Bill Quote Link to post

Maybe knocked off 500 each over a year and then a huge wave of mixi came in a very wet rainy period and the poor fellas were riddled with it, There still there just laying low. Hopefully have more positive shoots to post in the next month. P.S Hope the others saw my note! All the best Jack Jack Quote Link to post
