thehunter09 1
I cant realy say at this moment. all i can say is the battery charges with movement no callers or anything like that. It wont be that much either im thinking of around £100 and its gprs mate I would definitely pay £100 for that. to [bANNED TEXT] mate £100 pound for the 100% were abouts of your dog ..priceless.how many dog thiefs woood come a crooper then ...o yes
othickman 6
only problem i see is that if you can track your dog....so can others!it'd be like "them" having there own little database of who's out lamping and where they are! But I would expect that a lot of pet dog owners who have dogs that run off/the owners are neurotic would buy them too.. so if they could have a database of the whereabouts of all the chips, the majority would probably turn out to just be casual dog walkers. Annmarie09 5
Sounds great if it all comes off ok in trials etc I would certainly pay £100 for my dog to have one, to us she is priceless.
Gin 498
This would make every other tracking system obsolete, and be worth many millions, Fit it in your car aeriel (spelling ? )etc
skellyb 8
Great idea (although not original)but it won't happen for many years yet, especially at a price of £100.

comanche 3,057
It's a good idea and one day may actually happen . Batteries that self- charge by sliding within a magnetised case are nothing new .They -like any- battery do not last forever though . Even if the technology to produce a module small enough to be combined with a tracking device and yet remain unobtrusive exists and even if it could be garaunteed to work for the required fifteen years or so of a dog's life I doubt whether it would be available for a paltry £100. The idea of sculpting the shape of the module to the dog's body creates another problem . Implants have a habit of moving about the body so a chip sculpted to the shoulder blade could end up as a very uncomfortable lump on the dog's sternum . Even the micro-chips used at present can sometimes be found by hand without the need for scanning equipment .Anything bigger would be easily removed by a thief and would possibly cause discomfort and even damage to the dog . As an idea let's just say it's ahead of its time ...

SNAP SHOT 194
there is such a thing already up and running, but its used for tracking children.... its really small and uses a mobile sim card which is linked into google earth so you can see exactly where the person/ object is.... you can also set boundries in google earth so you get a text when the area is breached.... check out max tv website for those intrested... Gin 498
That one is the size of a mobile phone, carried in a bag or pocket. Several like that on the market, but not the size of an ID chip.
tracyb -Doglost 2
The 'Retreiva' collars advertised on Doglost were trialled all over the place. I saw them again at Crufts & two of us had scissors, pliers & wirecutters on them trying to break the material that collar made out of- cant do it. See what you mean about chips but if you;re quick enough you'll be on the trail of the dog before they take chip out, if you have a tag as well that says that dogs has 'Tracker Chip Implant' they may not nick it. Half the working dogs stolen are taken for breeding- neuter stops that, or for working- for the hell of it cos they can & it really peeves me off. We currently have dogs turning up all over the place- obviously ex stolen & STILL cant get them home. Anything you do that helps get dogs home is worth every penny
