Phantom 631
I one had a guy accuse me of shooting Birds when I was 18 He always wore a country type 'vest' with a RSPB logo on it. I wouldn't have really cared today but back then it bothered me as I was not a hunter / pest controller then. The only thing I shot back then was tin cans on what was a piece of waste land, ironically the land was known locally back then as 'The Gun Pits' for some reason. Now he sees me carrying my rifle (yes its cased, but obviously a rifle) and he don't says a word other than 'Hi' or 'Hello'. Go figure Phantom Quote Link to post
andyz 30
You did the right thing so well done. You can't speak to people who have that attitude!! I haven't had to experience that yet so fingers crossed I can stay as cool as you..... Don't let them get to you, stay out enjoying what you do!! ATB, Andy Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
I just walk down the road swinging paunched rabbits, gun and all, had a few dirty looks I just look back, smile and maybe give a cheeky wave with the rabbits lol, last time i did that i bumped into an woman walking her greyhound. I was expecting her to have a go at me, but instead she said "hello" and made a joke about hoping the greyhound didnt see the rabbits. Just goes to show really, depends on the type of person they are. If they have been bought up in a rural area like where im from, then you see people shooting every day and its a way of life. But, these days, you still get some "townie" folk moving out here and they just dont understand the rural way of life. Quote Link to post

Defo the townies moving in they just don't understand that it is a necessary way of life or that sport or sporting means fair not the rural equivalent of the Olympics. But as long as your legal b#llocks to them. Quote Link to post
JackReid 35
I dont come accross many antis in my area, but one time that stands out was an occaision when we were trying to cull some black backed gulls that were flighting up the river. I managed to drop one into the fast flowing water, which the spaniel went out to retrieve. He managed to get it back in, and as I was being given the bird a loud voice from the other bank shouted YOU CRUEL b***%*d! I said, ''wrong'' and a lengthy arguament started. He then threatened to swim accross and shoot me if I shot another one!! He just sat on the far bank, waiting... I thought, f**k it, and got back into my makeshift hide in the brambles. And in a nice twist of fate, a pair of gulls made an approach from downstream, HE spotted them, and started hollaring and waving his arms... but this put the pair straight over my head and I managed to get one with the first shot, the second gull swooped down and I left it be. The nutter kicked off again, and said he was calling the RSPCA... I shouted accross my name and address to save them any trouble in finding me, but they never came... the most disapointing thing was that he didnt even stick to his word and swim the freezing river to shoot me Hilarious. He will be the first to kick off when they shit all over his car or rip the bin bags out etc! Good Work! Quote Link to post
