watchman 256
had a few problems myself over the years, introducing pups to live out in the kennels with an older dog, typical problems are the pup just being to playful, constantly mouthing the older dog, wanting to play ect, well i suppose eventually something has to give and usually the pup gets put in its place, you know when its happened thats for sure, pup screaming like its being bloody murdered is the norm i feel.(and you can be sure it will happen in the middle of the night, and wake the whole neighbourhood) i usually make sure that all though shareing the same kennel and run, they both have a seperate sleeping area within, plenty of exercise allways seems to help,i know that should be the norm but i try and give them just that little bit more. also had problems when feeding, older dog laying into pup,so it is usual for me to monitor feeding times and usually seperate them, not ideal but there you go. then also iv had the problem of taking the older dog out lamping, then the pup whines like f**k at having to be left at home, although this is when the missus,on one of those rare occasions says bring the pup indoors till you get back. so i was just wondered what problems you have encounterd over the years,in this situation, and how have you overcome them, cheers lads rob Quote Link to post
tommyw 0
I got a ten week old pup last week. When I introduced it to my other two dogs they were not impressed and a little bit hostile towards the pup. I kept them apart when I wasent around and the pup yapped and howled and trashed her sleeping area when ever she was alone. After five nights of this my older dogs started to accept the pup so I put them all in together and everything has been fine since. The older dogs put her in her place when need be, usually when the pup tries to join in at the food bowl or decides to chew abit of one of the other dogs. Quote Link to post
