bitches in season

Recommended Posts

i have allways run my bitches,in season or not, plenty will disagree on the dos and donts, and if i was 100%honest i would say yes,on occasions i have noticed a slight change in their performance, but not to any degree that i personally feel they should not be running, and this may also only be on one particular night, and most dogs iv seen and worked are entitled to the odd night when they are not their best, hope that makes sense

I try not to run mine when in season only because my mate races licenced greyhounds who recons that they gather fat around the organs, mainly the heart in preparation for mating, they don't race for about 9 wks later as they get some kind of internal boost,I only don't run them hard while the're bleeding, otherwise if it came in season in the winter you'd be knackered for sport unless you had a load of dogs,it would be months lost, don't know whats right or wrong ?

Iv heard you not suppose to run ya bitch 12weeks once she has come into season, ano it 12weeks off but rather that than f**k ya dog up over a few little rabbits.

iv heard this, and iv heard that,i agree would not want f**k my dog up for a few bunnies,if thats your thing, but never known a dog to be f****d up over it,many will agree, many will disagree,we can only go with our own experiences i think

my own bitch was in heat there a while back and usauly a good bitch at the big ears but when she broke by f**k it put her back 12 weeks before she was running well again a frind off mine once run his bitch while she was broke the bitch took bad and brought her to vet and he told him the bitch had gathered milk and it went in to her blood 6 m before bitch was ready to run again he just put her down

when bitches are just coming into season can be flying,,,or in hunting terms on fire,,,,,but when in season most folk will do as little as possible with them,,,,then start bringing them back to fittness

some folk are diffrent,,,me i would do nothing with dog when in season,,,then start to bring her back to fittnes when seaso finished,,,but that does,nt mean iam right,,its just the way i was taught,,,i think everyone else has there own veiws on this,,,whatever works

thats exactly what i noticed. just before she came in she hardly missed a thing, caught two hares on lamp 30 seconds apart, good runs too. then all of a sudden she strugles to catch a rabit, completly lacking pace and turn. think thats it for me for the season.

had my bitchout ferriting today, we netted the holes as shes in heat. first rabbit slipped the net,my dog ran it, caught it, but made hard work of it. after that she just couldnt find the pace to get an early strike and would even say she jacked on a few. still has the gamness just bot the abilty, never realised being in season would impair her so much.

thats what i was taught mate,,,,bitches in season, dont work or run well,,,,,,look at this way is ur wife a nightmare that time off month ???? mine is sits and eats,,,and keeps saying she is bloated :icon_eek: ,,,( i say go to gym then :clapper: joke)

serourly,,,i heard when dogs in season there muscele tissue goes soft,,,and best not running them,,,,,( again not sure if thats true,,or wifes tale, but i have heard this )

but what i have noticed,,,lurcher guys dont seemed to be phased by bitches in season,,,,,my brother had good racers till 1st season ,they looked very promising,,,i told him not to excirse them in season,,,he ingnored me and continued there training,,,,both bitches never came back the same,,at track

but iam not saying this happens with all bitches,,,,,but why take the risk it,,,,we live and learn thou,,,,

iam one who wont work or race a bitch in season,,,,but some will,,and i cant say they are wrong or right,,,but by the sounds off it mate ur dog doesnt cope 100% in season
