do you think beddy grey are all round lurchers

Recommended Posts

like i said ,it comes down to how mutch you get out and what game is about and how often you run each species ,every dog no matter what size will learn to cope if it has it in it ,just like every other thing in life .

Yeah ,,a piss taker.

why am i a piss taker ,?????

listen bud , i dont want to call ya names here, i dont know ya, but lads with dogs know they were not all born equal, all dogs have different qualities ,which they use to their advantage, but pure pace is not something you can learn ,speed and running ability are something dogs are born with, you cannot work a dog faster,No matter how fit a beddy cross ,he is not going to pass an unfit saluki cross on the way to take the first turn out of a hare

who said any thing about compairing it to a nother x ,like i said its down to the person the dog and the amount of work ,and you can increase the pace of your dog ,that is what happens to all animals and humans that run a lot .just look at what happens in all sports ,if you got it then you can improve on what you had with a lot of training and work.so now im not a piss taker then ,lol and as for not passing a saluki ,it does and has happend . yeah you can improve fitness when you work at it ,but increases in speed are very small, look at the top sprinters ,there is hardly a second between any of them,no matter how hard they train,

also look at the gap betweenwhat was the 4 min mile and how quick it is run now .all down to work and training .the same can and does happen with bedyx or any cross. Edited by 2GOOD

Thats down to science,we know an awful lot more about the human body now, then we did then,,honestly bud , i cannot knock the beddy cross but we all know that they just lack that little bit of pace, but thats ok, because we know and would not have got one if we needed a complete all rounder..get out more kid,

what a load of rubbish ,to small for this ,to slow for that ,the main reason most dont please the owners and make a ,so called arounder,is the owners them selves ,because they dont let their dogs see enought stuff to make it a dog that will have a go at most things .how many of you realy get out that mutch in places where your dog can get a chance to shine ,no more than about 1 in 100 i bet .and this stands for all breeds

Thats a load of crap so 21tts dogs make the perfect allrounders you can show them all the stuff in the world but if they havent got the pace or running ability they arnt going to perform in the task of being the allround lurcher on all quarry pre ban of course.

pace and running ability ,comes with work ,correct me if im wrong .and with enough work what they lack in pace they soon learn to make up for it with brains ,if you dont know this then you must be one of the hundred .

I dont know wat you mean by one of the hundred???But i have been around lurchers for long enough to know that beddy/grey are not the ultimate allround lurcher but saying that they are an important cross towards producing the allround lurcher then again IMHO no first cross of any breed i would give the titel of all round lurcher.I get the impression you think i am knocking this cross far from it as i own a beddy hybred myself.

im not saying they are either ,im just writing what helps to make a allrounder ,and a beddyx can become one the same as any other breed ,its down to the dog,and the owner and the work it gets ,never mind how big or what x it is ..and your view on what a all rounder is .

My veiw of an allrounder wich i have had a few is a dog that can confidently take most edible quarry then again i suppose that type of dog is no longer a requirement if one is hunting his lurcher within these stupid hunting laws that exsist in this country and i would never doubt the beddy/grey as an allround rabbit dog.I asumed the question do you think beddy grey are all round lurchers meant would they excell at takeing all quarry pre ban.My answer is no.

Whys what i said a robot,i never said it had to be a world beater i said it had to be capable of doing the lot my lurchers are not robots but they do what i said i expected, well one does as the other was stolen, size is a factor on an all rounder so is running ability whats the point in keeping a dog in your kennels that cant perform a certain task ie you cant run that its to big,or you cant run that its to fast or you cant take it out with the terriers as its not up to the task at the end, theres other points i could give, at the end of the day a dog is what suits you and the type of hunting and quarry you pursue.

yes your right ,but some little dogs dont know that they are suposed to not be able to tackel this and that but learn to cope just like a bigger dog .

Am sorry mate but i disagree with you they cant learn to cope when its not phisicaly possible how does a little dog cope with deer and fox (pre ban)how does it cope at the end of a dig (pre ban) its just not possible for it to learn to cope they may be game and try to tackle larger quarry but there just gonna get hurt and there not suited to it,how many of us have gone out (pre ban) with a little lurcher shone the lamp on to have deer or a large dog fox sat there and wished we had a larger dog ?? how many of us have been for a mooch and a hare to get up only to watch it compleatly leave a smaller dog standing as it has not got the pace and stride to get on terms, and how many people out there have gone lamping or ferreting with there really tall hybred and watch there mates smaller dog make the big one look a fool.??

Hedz, thats spot on, i rarely comment, but what you say is only too true.

Thats where a Just incase dog comes into play.

So really you will need a dog/bitch around 23-25 tts, maybe say beddygreyxcolliegrey :hmm:the list goes on and on.

Seems to me like the Hare(daytime) comes into question everytime.
