how do i train my bull lucher to kill rabbit

Recommended Posts

As has already be said, wouldn't want a dog to kill rabbit but catch and retrieve live to hand, I under stand that the catching bit is the problem so I think just give it time to mature.

This will probably upset some hardened bull x men but if your preferd quarry is predominantly rabbit then why a Bull x ?

The fact that you are suggesting it is enough to make me think you are a tit. The fact that you are unable to reply to my post without using 'text talk' ([bANNED TEXT]) confirms that your IQ is probably single figure.

What looks like a young lad (sorry if you're not) has come on here and asked a genuine question. What he's got is a couple of half sensible replies (how many has it missed, and it'll get there in the end etc) and a few morons suggesting chucking the dog live rabbits to 'get it going'.

Throwing live quarry to dogs is illegal (and has been for a long time) and is also unsporting.

I don't know everything about everything, but I do know illegal and unsporting when I read it.

With friends like you, the hunting world doesn't need enemies. You do all their work for them posting crap like that.

how old do

she need to be mate what do i do then dont take her out or still go and give here lots of praktice mate soz about spelling it sh==t mate

The age depends a lot on the cross and the individual dog. Also depends what you are asking of her and how much. Personally until a dog is 15 months is old I wouldn't ask too much of it. For now take her ferreting, it will sharpen her up, she'll get used to seeing rabbits caught. If you can get her out lamping then pick her uns for her, don't let her chase everything you see. Try and get a sitter right out from cover. Walk up tp it. Don't let her run up to it, often a sitter will just sit tight until the dog is up on it then wrong foot it and get enough of a gap to make cover - especially if the dog is young. Just slip it when then rabbit makes its move.

If you want to sharpen up her catching get her to retrieve a tennis ball, brilliant for getting a dogs take sharpened up.

Don't fret sooner or later the penny WILL drop and she will be fine. You have a good few seasons ahead with her. When it comes round to September she will be just right to get on inexperienced rabbits.

People will say they start dogs at this age or that age but the people who have been in the game for ages and have dogs for life take their tme and get the most out of them or a long working life.

Oh and for the love of God dont go dropping live rabbits for your dog, it is highly illegal and immoral.

The practice of using "Droppers" is illegal and cruel and this is a forum where we dont know who we are talking too on many occasions, so talking about teasing a dog with live rabbits will sound barbaric to an anti or member of the RSPCA.

My advice to any genuine enquiry like this is to just get the dog out and about after legal quarry as much as possible. young dogs will eventually catch on wether its ferrting, shooting or using the lamp. a rabbit skin dummy is an excellent start followed by a cold retrieve of a dead rabbit. catching rabbits isnt easy stuff and needs natural aptitude followed by plentiful oppurtunity.

And the enquirer neednt worry too much about their spelling capability if he/she realise that their spelling isnt great then at least they know they can improve it :hmm:
