The first heron is one of the best bird captures you have done :thumbs:

 

God did i have to fiddle with the settings on that one :laugh::laugh:

 

Even the best pics have to be fiddled with a bit..even if its just a bit cropping and sharpening, :thumbs:

Well i tried a few things but it looked better a little bit darker

Did well with the red head :clapper: heres a male.

I couldnt beleve my luck when i saw it but the ponds still frozen over except for a bit round the edges .. your males a clearer photo than anything i got that day , this was the only one on the pond except for a handfull of ducks & some gulls

There've normally on decent size lakes in the winter so it was good that you found it on a pond, the weather has had an effect on many birds this year :clapper::clapper: . She's very neat so I think I was right in putting up a goosander rather than a merganser.
