fat man 4,741
What made them good fatman, the russell or the sealyham?.Not a loaded question bud but just asking as with the devon pack it was the russell that made the massive difference.I know the lads you know work them in a different way but was there a problem with one of the types to make them mix it with the other ?. Cant really say which as the dog i had was well down the line in there breeding programme.I actually got mine through a friend after all my own dogs were stolen. The dog in question was 4-5 year old when i had him and a joy to work. The chap that i got him through had a few of these type, like pees in a pod, long backs, big heads and rough coats and twisated front legs, ugly b*****ds but good workers. They were kept between 3 men i think and very few outside the circle got there hands on them.I would say that both types were of good quality as these lads were not into breeding dirt, couple of lads of here seen the dog i had work,i could not fault him. 1 Quote Link to post

andy26 618
the white terriers bred in cork were cracking terriers before the out crossthat's strange because they said the out cross was a success so a lot of bitches got lined with the same out cross dog and the line is still throwing top class workers to this day Quote Link to post
onion jonny 526
go speak to peter tulip(jm) from durham he traced the so called seals back and found they were a mix of terriers including a wire coated russell and even a crossbred dachshund i think john even did an article or included it in one of his writings in the EDRD, , MR and CR had some good digging dogs from this stuff but they were only sealy look alikes on a vid i have of the fm it interviews JT and he himself cant say they are sealys but that they look the same as whats on the cover of lucas'es book, the cork dogs were already a good terrier which has in its make up english bull and fox terrier all well back and so long ago it may have no bearing on the dogs of today if i remember right there is also a bert gripton terrier in the mix. this is my take on these dogs if anyone else thinks differently good you may be correct Edited October 7, 2014 by snagbrac Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
The crossbred dachshund was a dog called Jasper owned by my uncle and I always thought it was a Sealyham until I read that same article. I have a dog here named after him. Quote Link to post
