Blue eye lamp

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there still using a blue eye lamp?

I think they were made by deben.

A freind of mine used to use one many moons ago.I Think it's output was 250,000 candlepower.

Are they good enough for the serious lamper?

If so can you still buy one.

Nice one

Thanks for your time

You can make your own. Get some blue car windscreen sun strip (the type that boy racers used to put names on-Dave/sharon etc!). Cut a circle of it to suit your lens, about 2 1/2" to 3" on my striker, and stick it on! i put double on the striker as its very bright, and it cuts down side glare a lot. You lose a bit of whiteness off the beam (slight)but its a fair trade to cut cut down the side glare.

hi they cost about £45 and if you drop it or ave a bump the filament breaks and getting replacements is hassle.i still ave my floodlight /spotlight i got 20 yr ago but its very dull and i dont use it no more i ave a torch that is brighter

+they drink battery time as they are very high wattage

ive had my blue eye lamp 30 year, and i wish i could get a red filter for, at the minute im using the striker, not the same but still a good lamp, i got my spare from ely chandlers they , very helpful.

I use my blue eye sometimes and made a red filter for it,just bought some thin red perspex from a diy store cut it to size with a hack saw blade so it just fits inside the lamp casing,no need to drill a central hole. I bought a pop up filter for my cluson light i didnt like it was to flimsy asking to be snapped off,so i alterd that in the same way i made one for the blue eye.....ps the string is for pulling the filter out fast without blocking the beams light it also stops you from loosing it.
