albert64 1,882
just wondering i bought a pup out of this litter 15mths now, didnt have a choice as it was supposed to be going to ireland, a blue merle dog anyway had him out with me ferreting from 4mths, his first catch at 5mth was a wood pidgeon which had been winged not looked back since realy, he's had 5 pheasant 2 which he's took out of the air, caught loads of bolters, never given a false mark he's great to watch trailing a rabbit, will work ditches and cover and a pleasure to have round a set, very obediant and easy to train but does'nt like strangers, he's about 24" and roughly 55 lb i know some went to members of here just wondered how there's have turned out cheers albert Quote Link to post

lurchers 2,859
ya right mate the terrier cross whippets or terrier cross greyhounds are known for it.chipper is a good lad and he will tell ya what his dogs have done and what they havnt done which is genuine in my eyes.he is doing well with his little hound pack to good on the lad.i think the pups out of nell have turned out a bit head strong than what he expected as all his other pups he had bred were a bit more quicker a learning i think than these ones.but the people i have spoke to who got 1 out this litter all stid they are abit strong headed thn they normaly are. albert64 1,882
not found mine to be any more boisterous than any other pup infact can say he's been a pleasure to train as he's eager to please, but you have to look at whats in the blood, gwp they can be headstrong and hard to hold back its up to the owner to get on top of his dog, mine appears to have thrown to the collie you never know it might go tits up at some stage then its down to me to get him over that Quote Link to post

Guest warren
Merlin with his Mother Nell watch over a set of holes. Lurchers, I dont know where your coming from because most of what you said isnt right, yes its true that Merlin gives the odd yap while on a some rabbits. But you have never seen my dogs work so how can you coment on how good or bad they are. As far as me being a good promiser goes, well I think your memory is failing you or there has been a mis-understanding! I PMd you about six months ago with my phone number so that you could call me when your son was able to come for a days rabbiting with me!! The offer still stands, you and your Son can come and see for yourself weather my dogs are any good at their work! Your wrong when you said that other Lurchers which I have bred have been easier to trian than this litter we are on about. Well how can they be when this is the only litter of Lurchers I have ever bred in my life. How do you know if Merlin is come on well or not, its six months since I sent you that PM!! Come and see my dogs for your self Lurchers, you and your Son are both welcome for a look out, I'm sure you both will have a good day. I am happy with Merlin, he is and always has been a pleasure to work with. He is very steady and laid back, a very good hunter and marker. He has been known to mark some burries like ther was a bunny just under his nose! He takes a lot of game out of their seats but I have stopped him bringing Pheasants to me, some keepers dont like it! Merlin has retrieved a couple of shot hares, he hasnt seen many more than that. He didnt do to bad retrieving a shot fox, he is also doing very well at tracking wounded Roe. He as just started on the lamp and been out a couple of times. What more can I say about the young dog, if we can forgive him having the odd yip I think he is coming on very well!! Merlin is the only Lurcher I have owned that gives mouth. Some Pointer Xs can yip, plus when he is with my Hounds he thinks he is one.
