vasectomised hob

Recommended Posts

Hi all, just after some information on having my hob vasectomised as i have a hob and jill living together and dont want them to breed, as i hav'nt time for that. How much do vets charge for the op? would it be better to get the jill jab, how much for that? and how long does it last and when should i have it done?

Any info welcome guys thanks.

I asked my vet about a vecectemy and he said £180 and £30 to see if the operation was succesfull but have heard of people that it is usaly only about £40 so needless to say im going to anouther vet but I have been told that it is very common for the tubes to re join and the op is unsuccesfull so dont know wich route to take. my vet charges £14 pound a jill jab and they can come straight back into season wich then means anouther jab bloody rip off then they wounder why people keep breeding them for no reason and rescues are busting with ferts.

Hi John - They are last years young so around 7 months old now.

As long as they have enough weight on them, (for the anesthetic I guess?) they'll be fine.

I wasn't offered any other method, John, but do heed the info from Chrisnick if your Jill comes into season within the next couple of months...

my vets charge £38 but you will have to keep them separated for about eight weeks cos they can still get the jill pregnant
