wirral countryman 2,110
can I just say terrier work is not about just digging, the most efficient use of this clever little dog is a quick bolt, just like ferreting, but with a dog,it means the dog must be spannable round the chest so as to put the quarry under enough pressure to bolt,so long as your quiet on your approach, most foxes will bolt easilly, also they are great little busher's for rabbits catching a few in the process,d'ont limit your dog to just rats.remember brian bred this dog to be an all rounder, not just a ratter Quote Link to post

Cleanspade 3,324
my bitch is also unspannable and gets to some the last one took three and a half hours. if i had used one of my smaller terriers i.m pretty sure i could have had it out to the gun in under half an hour. dont get me wrong i like the bigger bitch she is very handy all round. but if i was working earths regular in a control situation i would use the smaller dogs. common sense really. but the old saying common sense aint that common rings true in terrierwork thats one reason i do mainly small fry these days 1 Quote Link to post
