Your pup is a stunner Dawn,how many blues and grizzles were in the litter,were any of the parents blue?

I got my pup from Lisa after,hes looks the business cant wait for next season to start him. a.t.b. Burrowman

Got a litter of border pups 3 blue and grizzles and 3 red grizzles from red grizzle parents 7 week old from Ray walker and Levi lines nice pup Dawn what lines is he from?

I'd like to know more regarding colours from someone in the know, My Brother has a Blue & Tan & he keeps siring Blues thats it, it now seems like a good quality to have, we have his son off the litter which will be ready at the end of Feb, I will have to get some images up. We were gutted that the litter was completely Blue as he was put to a cracking Red bitch & we wanted a Red dog,you never know what the genes will throw I suppose!

Sorry to hear you lost 2 pups at whelping Dawn,but its probably better for the bitch as 8 is a big litter.My pups father is a Levi dog by Lisas working bitch.He killed his first rat today at 5 months 1 week old so the signs are good. a.t.b. Burrowman.

Yes we were not disappointed to lose 2, its a shame they were born dead, but 6 is far better than 8, if Im honest 3 or 4 would of been fine. great news about your pup, look forward to seeing some photos.

She is by Ch Penlumeg Percival by Badgerbeck, he is a show champ and earth dog too, holds a working cert. Mother does ratting and is shown, she is predominantly Dandyhow bred.

Yep the genetics are complicated to say the least. I know blue to blue only produces blue, but all other litters Ive known using a grizzle produces grizzles and blues. I think red is dominant but not a true dominant, so theoretically red grizzle to red grizzle, or grizzle and tan could produce a true red. I think blue is recessive, or for a better word "hidden" so they pop up more and more and dilute the other colours like Red, and of course we havent seen a true wheaten Border for about 30yrs. Unless anyone knows different?
