Rentomski 0
Books are not enough... Hands on with real hawks is what you need; don't think the nicely manned bird at a centre is anything like a 16 week old Harris' straight out the aviary. Quote Link to post
MARKR1985 15
Books are not enough... Hands on with real hawks is what you need; don't think the nicely manned bird at a centre is anything like a 16 week old Harris' straight out the aviary. True, they also hardly ever do any real hunting, half of the "falconry experience days" consist of a harris flying round in a circle from person to person and then watching a lanner put in a few stoops to the lure. Working at a centre will give some idea of basic husbandry, but unless they are regularly taking in fresh birds, you won't see much in the way of training. People make the mistake of paying for an experience day rather than an in depth course. Quote Link to post

zachrussell 1
sound lads were can i do a good in depth course The center i volenteer at the harris's are hunted alot in the winter, and the falcon every other day. But you will see what the birds can be like if you help out, when the bird is taken out of the aviary and the equipment is put on. Also when you try and clean an aviary out with a chick in the parents go crazy. Quote Link to post
