Guest Daks
sorry bert but i have to say rangers are shite like the above few posts say, have you ever tried changing a transfer box in one? takes 5 to lift out and in, needs a service every 7k, oils changing in the diffs, transfer box every other service pain in the arse thats from a ford technicians point of view!! i dont think they areto good off road either, they rot like hell and they have a turning circle of the arc royal!! personal opinion get something else

bert69 5
Rangers will be the same off road as any other 4x4 pickup on the market today. Hilux is top dog but i dont like the shape, nissans blow up, mitsubishis have to be serviced every 300 yards, which only really leaves the ranger or the isuzu, i chose the ranger because i had 180, 000 trouble free miles with the old one and this one is shaping up to be even better. Also, services are 12500 miles apart not 7000 and i would change all oils every 20000 anyway.
welshwizard 33
IMO the Land Rover is a better option, parts are a lot cheaper than a lot of 4x4's. I have had Suzukis, a Chevrolet CrewCab,a Range Rover,. and the Land Rover is by far the cheapest on parts. At the moment I have a 1996 110 Defender CSW. OK, things do go wrong, but they go wrong eventually with everything. I can get everything and everyone in this vehicle. I get about 32 mpg. I admit I am not the fastest of drivers, but I get there eventually, and you have the added prestige of having a British car. It sails through the MOT, it is built like a tank, not like the Jap stuff. But there again, it is different strokes for different folks. And I would rather be in a Land Rover in a smash than anything else

FightTheBan 1,147
If you buy a landrover for 5 grand after two years motoring you wont have lost much money on it. If you buy an l200/navara etc after two years you will struggle to give the b*****d away. For off road capability, value for money, reliability it has to be the landrover - with hilux as a close second. Just my opinion. Navaras have major engine problems depending on models - so dont touch L200's in your price range drink jungle juice for fun and they are hideously expensive to run (as are all jap pickups) FTB
IanB 0
Defenders all the way...maybe not the best comfort for motorway miles but for allround hunting, robustness and offroad there the nuts...
