£5000 will get you a nice one i would of thought.

dont ecpect the same level of comfort as you L200

LAND ROVERS are a cracking motor but noisey and quite cramped in the front.

have a drive in one at a dealer....that will help you decide

110 might be a better option if you need more space in the back and gives you the option for extra seats if needed.

Surely it would depend on what tyres you have on, and what kind of driving you do Mike? I took a 90 shooting early in the season and found it a struggle getting all the gear in. Bought an L200 before my second shoot and it was much better, both on space and fuel. The defender had M/T tyres on and returned less than 30mpg, about 28/27mpg. My L200 is returning me about 32mpg and that is with the Grabber AT2's on.

ive always found landrovers are heavy on juice, the older shape l200's are geared so low they rev hard all the time and drink juice, i found the ford ranger to be much better on fuel as are the nissans but they got a reputation for blowing up!

Your right there, you only stay in the 1st 3 gears for a minute or two then you need to change again. I drive 30 miles daily in my L200 on the A1 and to sit at 70mph your hitting just over 3000 revs

Im the same as you mate got about 6k and cant decide what to go for the ranger seems good value for money but no that good off road so they say navara not sure about the engine problems quite fancy the hilux but are expensive for what you get also like the look of the rodeo heard good things about the engine but again are the top end of the market guess its right what they say you get what you pay for! Good luck all the best.

Who keeps coming out with this claptrap about rangers not being any good off road, they are equally as capable as any four wheel drive pick-up truck. They all share a transfer box which splits power 50/50. You then have a limited slip diff on the back. This system is common across all the trucks on the market nowadays apart from some have started adding diff locks on the back now but for 5 grand you won't get one of those. I would actually say that with a lighter kerb weight and smaller size than both the new hilux and navara that rangers are better off road.
