ravenmoon 2
I go to the butcher and get free chickens minus breast and legs, its all about the raw meat, plenty of red meat calfs legs and lamb is excellent. Go to tescos at about 8pm and get reduced human grade meat, let it eat what it catches. Also may take the dog a bit of settling in if youve just got it. Ive tried all sorts of dry foods and to be fair theres a lot of shite in it and I try to avoid it whenever possible and to be fair the more money i paid the less impressed i was, a dog that rips flesh of the bone each day will naturaly have a much higher prey drive than a dog who has crappy complete food. Also suppliment the meat with raw veg, peelings on a sunday are great for this, not potatoe peelings though spuds are bad MKAY. You can buy bags of herbs for dogs too, herbs contain loads of goodness for us all. Advice I was given when i rescued an extremely thin saluki grey longdog was from my mates dad who had been a very sucsesfull greyhound racer, he swore by boiled tripe and stale brown bread. I would rather avoid wheat in my dogs diets but bread has loads of carbs so would be good for adding weight. Edited January 23, 2010 by ravenmoon Quote Link to post
