JackReid 35
got new spring today the boy in the shop fited it ,its a lot better more power. Yo dude, Can you tell me about this spring then? If its more powerful what sort of performance difference have you noticed? Is the recoil too much now? Harder to cock? Longer range before dipping?? Fill me in! Jack Edited January 31, 2010 by JackReid Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Jack, What you put there is silly mate and really needs to be edited by yourself buddy before the admin staff read it and warn you or ban you pal. Firstly there is no need to patronise the lad for asking a bout a spring, he obviously knows that a rifle like that comes with a spring in it. (It was obvious that the gun needed a new one to me). The regulars are trying to assist new shootings in here not try and make them look silly in the open forum. Secondly broadcasting that about over 12FP rifles like you have done (I’m not going to multi quote you) is very cowboy -ish and not what we need in here to get new regulars in here thinking that the older regs in here are responsible hunters and shooters and someone to trust. We have young members of the shooting community joining this section daily and comments like that don’t make us look serious and responsible people in here which a lot of us are and have worked hard to get to where we are now. Please edit the post buddy I don’t want this to get into a see saw slagging match (already done that once) and got no where, its just friendly advice. Zini Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Urmm... Its comes fitted with one inside, why would you change it? I once purchased a rifle (many years ago mind you). I got it as 'for spares or repair' and it was rather cheap Once I got it, it had a spring inside it however it was well and truley screwed! The spring was totally knackered. The previous owner (apparently) had tried to increase its power by stretching it!! He is known to me and my friends as "Mr Dim FuckWit" This lead to the power output falling dramatically! The rifle was supposed to have a power output of approx 10ft/lbs but when tested it was just over 3 ft/lbs! So sorry Jack, it may have one fitted, but it may indeed, need a new one spring. another reason for a replacement spring is that springs can and do snap I know of at least one person who purchased a Brand new; well known manufacturer's rifle and within 1000 (less than 2 tins of pellets) shots sudenly found that it was not hitting the target (and it was a 15 CM target). When he returned it to the GunSmith, the smith told him that the spring was in two pieces. Needless to say he got a full refund and he will not touch this particular brand of air gun. So Jack, those are just two reasons a person may wish to replace a spring in a rifle. Phantom Quote Link to post

Tommy, Don't let people upset you buddy, You came on here with a perfectly valid question, most people on here will try to help, some people will try to belittle a new member and some people just won't engage the brain cells (well most people have more than one!) before they engage typing fingers (yeah bit like opening gob before engaging brain!). JackReid 35
Please edit the post buddy Zini Have done so mate cheers, I put it like that because I didnt want to be patronising and lecturing about needing an FAC when I'm sure he knows he would need one i only wanted to no what was the best spring for the gun.it needed a new one it did not have any power.i dont no the power its got now. Tommy, Don't let people upset you buddy, Tommy mate I wasnt putting you down I just assumed that a new weihrauch springer would be pretty much as powerful as legally possible, I couldnt understand why you would get a new spring for it when the current one was sound! Hence thinking you were wanting to beef it up over legal limit. In reflection your post doesnt suggest that you just bought it at all, so apologies if you havent! How long did it take to wear out if the latter is the case! No insult was meant! Jack p.s How has the performance changed for you since new spring?
