jordenkl 0
well..before one year ago i has been got the HW95 Luxe (Luxe=bigger stock) , and i found out that the recoil is kind of high, befoe 3 month ago i put on my rifle crappy 4X40 JSR scope, and after 4 shots, i found that the scope and monts are move backward, so i put new mounts and new scope- now- 3-9X50 JSR, and nothing did happen. after 200 shots i found out that the scope lose from his zero. well.. so i did zero the scope again, and guess what? after 10 shot in the hunting day, it's lose that again. so i came to the computer and chack out why? , so i found that the rifle forward recoil move hard. and it's hurt the scope.. so i asked my self what to do? so after 2 weeks of thinking i found out that i need new scope, one that can stand on my rifle recoil and also be clear picture, one that have a good size zoom, but not too much. so i found out that the Leupold VX-3 ,3.5-10X50, can do it. well..the parallax is not adjustable. but just from 200 yards+ you start to see that the parallax is start to influence. so i want to ask you guys questions 1)is that scope was a good choice? 2)is the HW95 recoil is so storng for an air rifle? hope that you'll answer, thanks Quote Link to post
Edgar 1
HW95 hasn't got a particularly harsh recoil. Your scope mounts could be the problem, are they one piece? Quote Link to post
mushroom 12,879
Get some proper mounts. I had this problem with my Webley, the recoil isn't all that but my zero lasted about three shots. Solution = the mounts where they grip onto the doverail were not level so the mounts were slightly off center diagonally which means if you looked in plan view at the gun the scope was diagonal to the gun it could still be zeroed. But added a whole new problem to recoil as it created a whole new dimension up, down forwards and backwards are the normal routes springers take added to these the stress the scope was under because it wasn't fitted right and it was shaken to pieces. The simple way to imagine it is a roundabout, if you could centralise your weight to the middle you would be in equilibrium when it is spinning but if you sit on the outer edge there is a different force applied which tries to throw you off similar for the springer. Centered = balanced, off center = buggered scope. No scope can stand these forces not even the most expensive in the world Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Hi, mate. There's not a lot wrong with the scopes you've tried. Yes they are basic and cheap but plenty good enough for what you've got. Don't waste your money on the VX, a top class scope for a CF rifle but you'll find it won't focus properly at airgun ranges, especialy as the mag goes up and as you've said, the PX will be way out and that'll cause even more problems. As has been said, it sounds like a mounting problem. Get a good one piece mount, make sure there's no oil, dirt, grease where it clamps to the gun and tighten it all up well. Cheers. PS.. Where abouts are you? Edited January 23, 2010 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
