danebrewer10 6
Hi all, has anyone noticed the new Anschutz? I don't believe we'll get it in this country untill quite a bit later, but I really like the look of it especially in the DJV/Jagdmatch stock configuration anschutz quality and accuracy comes as standard... I'd take that any day over a costom rem 700... anyways here's the LINK to the Anschutz product page and some pics below Like I say, I'd love it in the jagdmatch stock, possibly a tad heavy at over 8 lbs... but I could probably live with that.... Just hope it'll be available in deer legal calibers (other than munties and CWD) at a later date! Cheers DB Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
These calibres are relatively new to them, so it remains to be seen. I first handled an Anschutz .22lr back in around 1970 at my club and I have to say I instantly fell in love with it. Their target shooting heritage is legendary, their hunting rifles are based on this!! I don't do any serious target shooting these days, my work is mainly in the field, and whilst I suspect they will end up carving out as good a name for these as they have for target and field rimfires I just don't need it. I need a practical rifle that I can group all day to 1" and don't cry too much if it gets scratched. (but I do still cry) Anschutz is likely to be overspecified for my requirements with far too nice a bit of wood, and too expensive. That is not a criticism in any way, I'm sure they will follow in the Anschutz tradition and be excellent, but few will require what it is likely to be capable of. My guns work, they don't hang on the wall looking pretty! Edited January 26, 2010 by Deker Quote Link to post

Well a lot of folk have Sako rifles and they're pretty darn pricey now, RRP for the wood/blue model is £1445 synthetic/stainless is £1575, for the Tikka synthetic/stainless £950, I can't see the ANschutz being that far off the Sako. I like to have pride of ownership as well, hence why I might be tempted to spend a bit more on a gun that I need to, buying a beretta instead of a lanber or a Steyr or Sako over a Tikka or CZ, also it's nice to have something a little different from the norm, having said that CZ do make some good looking guns in the Centerfire line of things...
