Attack Fell Terrier 864
If your dog is on the lead and you're in control of it properly then you've got nothing to flap over. If the other bloke is concerned about his dogs being ragged around by other dogs then he shouldn't let them wonder over to dogs he doesn't know.
comanche 3,115
If you know your dog is aggressive and take it in public without precautions you certainly weaken your case if something should happen and you are taken to court .Even if the police don't want to be involved an aggrieved person can still make a private claim for damages .That's when some clever-dick lawyer will ask,"So you know your dog is a bit aggressive but you still take him to places where there are bound to be dogs running loose ?" That's a worse-case scenario and to be honest I know how frustrating it is to have uncontrolled dogs run up to a dog I have on a lead .The result is either a ruined training session or -when I had a "defensive" dog of my own -an embarrissing scene. Part of the problem is that so many training classes promote puppy socialisation to a point where owners think it is quite normal to allow dogs to meet and greet each other without permission and think that anyone who actually wants to avoid these uncontrolled mellees is being unreasonable. As lots of people have said ,"be wary of addmitting your dog is aggressive ". "Touchy" with dogs that get overfamiliar maybe."Defensive ",even but avoid at all cost using the word aggressive .
