another double for the pup tonight!!

Recommended Posts

myself and the bro were in two minds about heading out tonight as it was torrential rain all day but as it came to lampin time the heavy rain turn to drizzle and off we headed.

when we got to our permission a bit of fog came in but it was just about workable.

the first section we did was a few small fields and the rabbits were out in good numbers..

the ditches though are full of thick hawthorn bushes and the rabbits werent giving the dogs much of a chance and we only had 8 rabbits in the bag in the section..4 a piece...

we then crossed over the lane and done a large hilly field and we had another 8 rabbits in the bag from 8 runs..

things were looking up..

we had only two fields left and the dogs didnt dissapoint with taking another 10 rabbits between em and only missing 1 rabbit out of the finial 18 they caught..

we finished the night with 26 big healty rabbits with the pup taking 12 and my blag dog taking 14..

good going sounds like the pups doing well good stuff :good:

thanks for the reply,s lads

we were out for about 2 1/2 hours and we had some good sport..

the pup is really using his brain and running the rabbits very well, running outside the beam, cutting the rabbits fron the ditch, bursting through the cover when needs be and picking them on the run also..

he is doing everything in this his first season that my black lurcher is doing now..

even though he had 2 less rabbits i think he ran just as well and would have carried on all night if he had to..

love the look on your red dog like, did you breed him pal? wouldnt mind trying an irish terrier cross in the future, all of what ive heard of them have been cracking lurchers.

strange how dogs with different breeding look similiar aint it..

my bro has a lurcher with totally different breedin that looks exactly like my black dog but there ya go..

sounds like a well bred dog ya have to make an allrounder which i like

i didnt breed him myself i purchased him from a lad in wicklow and im delighted with how he is going..

i posted up recently with a night out i had where he picked a fox and with the aid of my black dog they killed it.

suprising thing is that he had never even seen a fox till then but still got his head down and picked it and stayed there until the job was done..
