I remember being interested in these as a kid....but if you are curious about the supernatural / spirits / magic and so forth, not sue what to believe, you should check out James Randi. This is copied from wikipedia, but you can read about him anywhere:

The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) currently offers a prize of one million U.S. dollars to anyone who can demonstrate a supernatural ability under agreed-upon scientific testing criteria. Similar to the paranormal challenges of John Nevil Maskelyne and Houdini, in 1964, Randi put up $1,000 of his own money payable to the first person who could provide objective proof of the paranormal.[51] Since then, the prize money has grown to the current $1,000,000, and has formal published rules. No one has progressed past the preliminary test which is set up with parameters agreed to by both Randi and the applicant. He refuses to accept any challengers who might suffer serious injury or death as a result of the testing.

So basically, since round abouts the 60´s, nobody has EVER been able to demonstrate supernatural ability or powers under test conditions...when you consider the fact there has never been "PROOF" for supernatural occurences...makes you wonder why we waste so much time with the garbage doesnt it??
