GET THEM OUT (.)(.) 39
the fastest cross i see was a whippet greyhound, she was lighting and a good bunny dog as she was only young when i see her run, i think these light crosses, have enough guts to tackle quarry if entered right but its the after bits, i,e how they cope with running the hard ground, taking a few bites, and the most important if they can do the job, a dog doesnt kill by hanging on and pulling, from what i have seen from the light crosses they wana do it, but struggle on power and bite, good looking dog mlb, Quote Link to post
Taffybull 48
a good pal of mine owned a rough coated Beddy whippet greyhound, 23tts,dog. one of the best lamping dogs ive seen, he done it all pre ban. Quote Link to post
stabba 10,745
Ive seen a few of this x just latley and what a cracking x they are. Id say the only downfall of this x is that they seem to lack a bit of bulk for heavier quarry. I for 1 would consider this x if i wanted something just to mooch with. atb stabba Quote Link to post
mattyg 1,862
yes stabba i agree, mine will never make a single handed retriever day in day out, although he does have his moments of greatness. but for a general mooching dog i find him hard to beat.heart of a lion and a bit of brain to go with it. he was only ever bought as a rabbiting dog but decided he like other things aswell with no encouragement from me. cheers, matt Quote Link to post

tophunter22 10
this is the x i will be looking for when i breed off my bitch next year , i like the beddy whippets but want just that extra few inches of height from the greyhound as my larl bitch is only 21and half inch. shes collie greyhound bull whippet she can take the knocks and is a hardy little thing but just hasnt the size to do it on her own . so next year i will be looking for dog for her and dont mind traveling the length of country to find it lol i dont want to put a massive dog over her as alot of my work is rabbits but always handy to have slighty bigger dog which will hopefully be the pup from when breed her this is her Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
hi this is my beddy/whip/grey hes 24 1/2 tts hes my allrounder and hes 5yrs old has been a very good dog i also have his full siter shes made 22 tts and 13 months old just started and doing ok cheers mlb http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv320/misslurcherbitch/IMG_9996Medium.jpg Nice dogs, but there isnt much beddlington in them... runforyourlife 361
Some lovely dogs shown here but not many have the beddlington side. More to the whippet. In this breed i would go for ones with a little more beddy in them, as i beleive that is what gives them the balls to take "all" quarry.... Plus, we mentioned all work... i have seen whppet x curl up in strong winds, rain, winter, high ground.. The beddy coats let them carry on, thus making them the real all round deal. mattyg 1,862
the rougher coat is certainly an advantage! Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
The smooth coat in some cases does not mean they are thin skined.Me and my mate have litter brother and sister out of a grey/beddy back to biglandboy they are 12 months old his smooth haired dog will sit out in bad weather were has my brocken coated bitch is very nesh in rain .After seeing pups out of a previouse litter and this one of mine i would always now go for a smooth coated one based on their running ability.atb dell Quote Link to post
honesthunter 13
i will be going for something with Bedlington in it, i like the character of the ones i have come across, and have been impressed with the speed and agility of the more sighthound bred crosses, no too mention the fact that they look great, will want a dog to be able to take anything if asked to, or simply if the opportunity arises. but mostly i will be after rabbits and these dogs do that well, the rough coat being an advantage when dealing with cover. as well as hiding scars from my vegetarian neighbours lol. atb hh Quote Link to post
mattyg 1,862
mines smooth coated and to be honest he aint a fan of really harsh weather when ferreting, but as long as he is on the move he is perfectly fine,he has thrown plenty to the whippet side and his attitude is 100%, cant fault him there!
