I love these threads, But am i right in thinking no one has actually slated kizzy/pharoh/ khan lines everyone seems to agree they are some, if not the best, lines in europe maybe even the world.

fact is they are from the same lines, cruise, cruise junior, kizzy ect ect ect .fact. if they was been bred to further the breed then why isnt there new blood been entered into the breeding lines. im

it seems that the pure saluki has been turned into the new border terrier, it was only 5 yrs ago that you couldnt give them away unlike the border that was like gold dust to breeders. a guy from the

Question...do you guys think a pair could handle a coyote ?

You would need to get the right type of saluki as there are many types from many countries used to to hunt different animals, Ive seen videos of them hunting wolves. so i would say yes to your question.

From the right stock and correct entering yes I would say so, I've heard from folk in the US whos Salukis kill coyotes whilst coursing Jackrabbits, certainly some of the larger male Kazakh dogs should be capable. Many salukis in COO are used on fox, Jackal and wolf (all be it hunted as a pack considering the wolf is larger and more powerful than any one dog.

just wondering . are saukis good all rounders?would they take fox , hare and rabbit on different types of terrian from large flat grassland to rough fell ground.also do they work well on the lamp and have they got te endurance to take big bags.

endurance would not be an issue .neither would different types of terrain, most would cope very well and they will take most game entered correctly .although im sure the smaller breeds whippet xbeddys ect would probebly catch more on small fields

well i use mine for all rounders, ime not bothered what size fields i run them in, big or little no "excuses" and it doesnt matter how rough it is, (cos they are fast enough, up and at them type,) or how flinty or stony it is, they are "capable" of taking a far wider range of quarry than you actually mentioned, they work on the lamp, mark rabbits and rats etc, they work with ferrets and falcons, will swim rivers, jump anything, mine will go through bramble bushes nettles allsorts nothing bothers them, they live outside the cold doesnt bother mine one bit, they never shiver, they are quiet and never any bother at all, but they are good guard dogs, and will bark if they hear anything strange around my place, they are good eaters, and never ail anything, they are good with kids, loyal, and really are nice dogs to keep,

lifes to short to just hunt a single species, :whistling: thats why i like my "KIZZY AND PHAROE" salukis, i just got pups and brought them up like you would a lurcher, but in my opinion i find them a lot hardier than a lot of lurchers,

salukis have survived extreme hardship in there own regions of origin for thousands and thousands of years, a thoughtfull caring owner here, should be able to get a lot out of a saluki quite easily,

do you hunt coyote ? i would fly to america and pay you to go hunting coyote with sighthounds,

Yes sir...I generally run Stags or straight greyhounds on 'em. As I've mentioned before, I sold all my stock due to an upcoming deployment to the Gulf of Aden for about a year. After that, I'll be rebuilding my pack.

Come on out after that, you pay for plane tickets to get here; I'll take care of the rest.

BTW, thanks for the replys all. I know the Missus would love to have a house full of coyote killing super models.
