Hi VI Purse nets

Recommended Posts

how do you pay for the poly it doesn;t say.do they accept paypal.

He accepts Pay Pal...

I've just ordered some, and not a bad price , so thanks again NRigger!

Buggsbunny . Think about it .A rabbit emerging from a burrow is probably only going to see a net of any colour as a silouhette against the light. Then there is the fact that rabbits are probably colour-blind or certainly don't see colour as we do and are defintly are more attuned to detect movement than colour. The number of times that rabbits back-net into nets of all colours is the real indicater that the rabbits are not put off by bright colours .

good points fair play but i think i"ll stick to the good old green and black nets i think;] if rabbits are colour blind why use red filters on lamp shy rabbits? and another thing when your ferreting wha colour clothing do you ware? realtree? why bother to buy expensive realtree just ware hi vis coat an trousers dont worry the rabbits wont see and as far vas the ferret bein [bANNED TEXT] behind them it dont always work like that he might still be turning 1 on a block end. what would i know only been doin it for about 16/17 years hey an i"m still only 25 :hmm:

If youve been ferreting for 16/17 years and know so much, why come on a forum and ask questions you so clearly know the answer to? You asked for people opinions and got exactly that, why then give a reply like this?? I cant comment on the filters on lamps as ive never done lamping, but that is completely different, if you were colour blind im sure you could tell if someone was shining a bright light in you eyes or one with a filter. As for clothing, Realtree and other camouflage is worn to break up your outline so you cant be seen so clearly. If you stood in view of a hole in hi-vis im sure the rabbits would think twice about bolting, thats why camouflage is worn, but im sure you know this. If you ask a serious question, try and follow with a serious answer.

MMMM, a seemingly genuine post followed by a seemingly idiotic comment, after 16 years, if you count your chidhood, i'm sure you wouldn't need any advice, maybe you should write a book :big_boss:

maybe i will one day no all jokes aside its down to the indeviual wha colour nets they use if it works for you then carry on doin it i say but as we all know you always get rabbits come an sit on the hole looking to bolt i just think with bright colour nets it might put them off a bit thats all. But then again i have never

Fair enough. i intend on testing them fully, i'll use only them for a few outings an see how things develop. I'll post my progress

Poor old Buggsbunny has had a bit of stick for expressing an opinion but at least it contained a gem or two of considered arguement

Why use a red filter if rabbits are colour-blind ? .. Der ,if rabbits are colour-blind they probably can't see red .That's why . That's the theory anyway .

As to the standing outside the hole in a hi viz suit .When ferreting it is bad policy to stand outside the hole wearing anything (er I don't mean naked .I mean it's best to stand down wind and out of sight of the holes ). Even if you are standing still you will be representing a big blot on the landscape that was'nt there the last time the rabbit poked its head out and your scent will be another givaway .Two factors that will concern the rabbit more than if you are wearing Armanii or a Screwfix Hi viz deal of the month.

I have it on the authority of my nephew -who is colour-blind -that some camoflague patterns actually stand -out like a sore thumb to him because of the way his eyes/brain interpret different colours . It would be interesting to hear from other colour-blind people on this site on this subject .

As for buying expensive "Realtree" gear for ferreting-just shows that its not just animals that are fooled by the fashions in cammo clothing :D

I suppose I have to add that simply changing to coloured nets will not stop a habitual net-loser from continuing the pattern .

If your eyes are tuned to looking out for bright meshes they may easily over-look the muddy peg and bit of drawcord that are the only indications of the presence of a net that has been drawn down by a ferret or rabbit .So Bugg's idea of coloured cords and pegs is a goer .

Best way is to count your nets out and count em back in regardless of colour.

The main reason I like coloured twine is that I can make different colour-coded sizes so that I can easily match the net to the size of the hole .They also add an extra sense of fun to procedings- the next batch -thanks to netrigger- are going to be pink .

Whatever colour net you use I'm with Buggs -it's what you feel happiest with . Ooh I can't wait for that pink twine to arrive !

Don't think the colour of the net matters in the least to the rabbit if there's a ferret up its arse following it out ,its ferreters that leave the nets lying on the burrows after they have finished for the day looking like amateur's that brightly coloured nets will help

Rubber band [bike inner tube cut up] around each net, keeps the nets tidy in the bag, and if you have a band or bands left in your pocket there are still nets down. Worked for me for the last 30 odd years.

Simples

i like the idea of not loosing nets but dont u think when the rabbit sees souch bright colours he will turn back? i think it would be much better if you had high vis pegs or just the draw cords. whats your thaughts on this????

all my pegs are red spot them a mile away easy

I'm with tiercel with the rubber bands, I know they're a bit Fred J Taylor but they've worked for me for about the same amount of time .I'm not strictly opposed to bright coloured nets, just don't like 'em - old fashioned I suppose . I make and sell a lot of purse nets, bright yella as well but I would worry about the ferreter :o that asked for pink nets :o
