Now then ferreters, a mate just emailed me these pix that the took of an outing just after Christmas, the story goes like this, when we arive at this piece of land we have to unlock a padlocked chain on a five bar gate before we can enter. Every time we pull up to unlock the gate this rabbit does one into a hedge at the side of the gate, and every time it does this I kept saying to my buddy that I was going to have that rabbit one day, but its not always worth messing around for the one is it, when you can be working on some thing more productive :D Well may buddy says to me, you always say this, and laughed :D So I took that to mean that he thought I could'nt catch the loan pasture muncher, so game on. I did'nt even know where exactly it was doing one too, so a quick look up the hedge revealed an eight holer, big ranch for a lone buck I thought, so the plan was to net up what we could see and chuck a ferret in at each end and nab the long eared git :D

So in with the ferrets, twenty seconds later the git was in the net, ha ha I said to my buddy, thats that sorted  And then, bang, another little git, I was surprised, as it was one of those warrens that looked as if it had been dead for years, then there was a sqeal, and two more hit the nets, huh! two more in the boot, I was just about to say that was it when another rabbit shot for freedom, but was stopped in his tracks by a well pursed net, how many more is there I thought? Thump thump! SQEAL! and I new I had my first dig of the morning. Lucky for me it was only a spit and a half deep, and soil that could star on Gardeners World.

And there he was, just sat there, arse in the air, with my poley jill for company, a quick extraction and dispatch, and on to the back fill, turf on, a quick pat down with the spade, good as new :D

Packed up and ready for the next warren, a group photo call for the occupants of 8 hole ranch.

Just goes to show what might be lurking under that so called unproductive hedge you walk past every day, so next time you pass it, give it a go, you never know.

If that one rabbit hadn't given the game away he would have missed out on six better using a dog to mark the burrows

We are not allowed dogs on this land or it would be easy, the landowner had problems with some lads he let use this land before, so dogs are banned, I did ask what went off, but the conversation ended with a cold stare, so I left it at that :)
