rip THE VOICE O RUGBY

Recommended Posts

a true gentleman, never has one person touched so many hearts with his commentaries on world rugby, said it as he saw it, not a bit of bias in his words, a man who taught the children of hawick, including myself, to play rugby.---R.I.P SIR BILL OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY

Its always a shame to lose the iconic sporting figures.....only watched the odd game of rugby myself but Bill Mclarens voice just went hand in hand with the sport....i still cant get used to watching boxing without listening to Reg Gutteridge commentating or football without Brian Moore, something you rugby fans will experience im sure.....apparently Mr.Mclaren was a kind and decent man to go with his passion for his sport......RIP

I grew up watching rugby on the telly with my dad and his voice in indelibly etched in my mind.

Even as an englishman you could never fault his completely unbiased commentary.

I hope he's (to paraphrase) "dancing in the streets of Hawick"

A legend
