hi as above i need to rehome my kerry beagle to someone who has other dogs as he wont train up without, he is 11mth old and a beutiful dog  ,he just wont listen in the field, he acts as though he is scared of everything on the leash but without he is off and into everything and no recall no matter how hard i've tried, i have spoke to a few people and they all say the same he needs more dogs around him as he is not intergating into our pack (our family ) he needs other dogs around, problem is we cant keep more than one dog here so need a dog that can live and work on its own ideally a patt pup but will consider any terrier from working stock. This is hard for us to do as i have never had to get rid of a dog like this but i have decided its in the dogs best interest. forgot to mention he lives inside and is house trained he can be left alone for a few hours and he is great with kids and other dogs.

Cant you put more time and effort in mate?

I aint putting you down, but ive had good dogs that were a nightmare to train, then one day it all clicked, good luck anyway.

have been giving him all day every day for the last couple of months and nothing is sticking and i mean nothing not even sit  i tend to agree with the advice of a couple of profesional trainers i know and that is i'm making his and my life difficult without any benefit to either of us.

bushing and retrieving he seems keen enough when shown charlie and rabbits but i cant let him off the leash he does not come back there is no bond with him and us as there was with other dogs i've had he just does his own thing :( it just seems a big waste of time as he shows no signs of improving and its frustrating when your told he will never change without more dogs to take an example off

The trouble is mate you've got a pack hound , there not really a house dog, sit, stay, rollover kinda dog, they hunt things and stop when when they either loose it( ie lost the line and are unable to recover it), kill it, or put it to ground, i just don't think a Kerry Beagle is what you need , and i think you realize that now.

I 'm sure there's some lads out there that have a gun pack that he would suit down to the ground, wether they have a terrier to trade might be another thing.

fencehopper you're an idiot!!! its idiots like you that give genuine dog men a bad name, turf the dog out and good luck !!!! very humane
