waidmann 105
a lab will have the nose for the job but i'm not sure it will be hard enough if it comes to the "crunch". this by no means should mean not to train her/him but i would be prepared to use a "catch" dog( often done by handlers with bgs/hs as they tend to be hard on pigs and cost alot of time and money ). i had a lab x who went well on deer( labxgsp with some hs way back bred as catching dogs for boar). p.s. a mate works a golden retriever for following up and he does it well only lacks hardness and speed when found alive. i'm sure some retrievers will have the spirit( exceptions confirm rules) and i wish you the best of luck with the pup Quote Link to post
